Press Release – Closing Conference held in Vrbas

As part of the project “Improving living conditions for internally displated people and refugees in the Municipality of Vrbas”, a closing conference was held today following the successful realization of all project activities. The closing conference was held at the Assembly Hall of the Municipality of Vrbas with participation of the project team members, large number of refugees and IDPs, representatives of the Municipality of Vrbas administration, Social Welfare Center representatives from Vrbas.
The project was financed by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia and realized by the Municipality of Vrbas and the Association New Bridges from Belgrade, with the support of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations in the Republic of Serbia. EU grants for the project is 93.194,40 eur, and support of Commissariat for refugees and migration of the Republic of Serbia is 1.269.681,00 dinars which are spent to the improvement of housing conditions of 5 households of refugees and internally displaced persons through grants in construction material.
The project “Improving living conditions for internally displated people and refugees in the Municipality of Vrbas” had an objective to enhance the material status of refugees and internally displaced families on the territory of the Municipality of Vrbas in order to promote them to the level of standard which the average families have in the Municipality of Arilje by enhancing their housing conditions and strengthening their economic activities.
The project objective has been achieved by resolving the housing issues for 17 families i providing packages for improving economic activities for 10 families.
Within the project project team purchased:
- 17 construction material packages (for 5 IDPs families and 12 refugee families),
- 10 packages for improving economic activities for ten refugee families.
The project “Improving living conditions for internally displated people and refugees in the Municipality of Vrbas” is part of a more comprehensive program funded by the European Union supporting improvement of living conditions of forced migrants – “For A Better Life”, with the total value of 14.2 million euro.
Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations of the republic of Serbia has provided all the necessary support for the implementation of these activities all with the goal of improving life quality and housing conditions for refugees and internally displaced persons.
Project “FOR A A BETTER LIFE” is in line with the valid state politics towards refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees, and it completely reflects the essential principle – support to the integration of forced migrants who have chosen to stay in Serbia, as well as to those who have decided to return to Kosovo.
